The Open Fair is a national movement of free,
community-based talent exchanges. The aim is to help you to make a living from
your own skills, ideas and initiative. Every enterprise starts with one person.
With the Open Fair, you can be that person.
‘OPEN’ stands for One Person ENterprise. Open
Fairs are planned in venues all over Ireland, uniting people who have skills to
offer with people who are in need of those skills.
Open Fairs will be organised in collaboration with the Irish
Vocational Education Association and other community groups, in venues such as
schools, community halls, hotels, etc, and presented free of charge in cities,
towns and villages across the country. They will offer communities a chance to
discover what services and products originate locally, as well as offering
enterprising individuals a showcase for their talent.
In theory it is simple; in practice, by promoting personal
development and self-reliance, and by boosting local economies, it can make the
difference between despair and hope, both for individuals and for communities.
The Open Fair is a way of fostering independence through interdependence.
