Yarnbombing at Bloom! Dublin
Best of luck today to the yarnbombers who'll be knitting and crocheting today in Bloom in the Park!
Irelands largest Garden festival will have a community garden design entitled “All Part of the Pattern”. It is intended to reflect “the ideals and focus of community gardening in Ireland – social inclusion, improved nutrition, building community, sharing skills and knowledge. Community gardens knit together individuals to form communities; combating isolation, food poverty and waste. We are all – however different – part of the pattern of our community.”
"A central concept in the garden is community, and we plan to represent this by YARNBOMBING the tree and tools in the garden. Yarnbombing is a relatively new form of street art that employs colourful displays of knitted or crocheted yarn instead of paint or chalk. We're going to use a patchwork of knitted pieces to represent how our community gardens knit our communities together."
