The Sheep & Wool Centre, Leenan, Co. Mayo

In the The Sheep & Wool Centre, Leenan, Co. Mayo, we have a museum, shop and cafe. The museum focuses on the history of sheep and wool in our local area where there was once a thriving homespun and weaving industry. We demonstrate the whole process from shearing the sheep, carding, spinning the wool - including the big wheel which was used in the west of Ireland.  We also look at the development of different sheep breeds.

Open from March to October.

We stock plenty of spun yarn - from Donegal Studio and also have some raw wool on sale for spinners.
