Basic Jewellery Making - beginners class
When:Fri 11th Sept
Cost:Cost €65.00
Learn all about beads, findings, wire and basic bead stringing. Learn how to make wire wrapped loops for dangles, earrings and connectors. You will make a pretty necklace and a pair of earrings, which will give you the confidence to have a go at home. No experience needed.

Precious Metal Clay with Maura Dickerson,
When:Sat and Sun 3rd and 4th Oct.
Cost: Due to the expensive cost of materials for this workshop pricing is higher than usual €260.00
Booking:Closing date 19th Sept.
Learn how to make charms, earrings and pendants from PMC, this will be an intense, detailed workshop covering all accepts of working with precious metal clay. Students will be making a minimum of 5 pieces. PMC when fired is 99% pure silver.

Needle felt a woolly picture

Learn how to use a felting needle to attach wool fibre onto a fabric base. This new craft has endless possibilities for creating greetings cards, small pictures and wall hangings. Needle felting involves using a very sharp needle and is not suitable for children under 12 years. No experience is needed.

Bead Weaving – right angle weave netting.

The fascinating art of bead weaving involves using a fine beading needle and nylon thread to stitch together tiny seed beads to form beady tubes, ropes, netting and beaded beads. Some experience in using a fine needle and thread would be beneficial for this workshop.

Framed Basket Weaving with Kathleen McCormick
When:Sat and Sun 24th and 25th Oct
Cost: €150.00
The aim of this course is to introduce you to making a hooped or frame basket. This style of basket is constructed in a very different way to the traditional “hub, stake and strand”, the “frame” basket is a tradition in many areas of Ireland and Europe. We will be making one or two baskets using coloured willow for added visual interest and also some ‘hoops’ for you to take home for further use. This class is suitable for beginners and students that wish to move onto different shape and techniques.

Woven Wild Animals. Two day environmental sculpture course
When:7th and 8th Nov
This is a two day exploration of the use of natural materials and their potential in creating sculptures, in this time in the beautiful setting of Derryaun, Drummin. We will initially create a bird from willow and birch and as the time progresses we will create pieces of the participants devising. In this time we will have an overview of environmental art and will through walks identify material that is suitable for making sculpture.
The aim of the two days are ;
· To facilitate artists and non artists to identify natural materials which are suitable to build sculptures with.
· To become aware of the potential of working with natural materials in a sculptural sense.
· To learn some basic techniques that are useful in working with natural materials.
Tom Meskell is a freelance practicing artist and an active artist working in a community context. Tom works with Galleries, Arts festivals, local authorities and directly for community groups.


Mask Making with Carmel Balfe

Ever wanted to be the bell of a Venetian ball? Why not start by learning how to make your own half mask. We are running a mask making workshop to be facilitated by Carmel Balfe and all skill levels are welcome. Over the course of one weekend Carmel will cover face casting, silk felt making, moulding and treating the felt to make it durable. Materials used to complete the mask will include ostrich and peacock feathers and fabric trim. Come and immerse yourself in the glamour and the art.
