Textile Workshops Dublin - 2009 Schedule

We've had an exciting summer at Textile Workshop Dublin and are delighted to be holding a few more exciting workshops in the Autumn at our fabulous new location in the Pearse Museum, Rathfarnham, Dublin 16.

Each of these courses are designed to provide people with the inspiration, skills and confidence to be more creative regardless of their levels of experience. This ethos is ideal for the Christmas season when a handmade gift or decoration can be far more treasured, and often less expensive, than a shop-bought one!

Ready, Steady, Embroider!
Dates Saturday 10th October, 10am to 4 pm
Saturday 21st November, 10am to 4 pm
Price €70 (includes material fee)
Discover how to use the timeless skill of embroidery to create beautiful and contemporary fabric decorations. You could start your own collection for your home or give them as treasured gifts for Christmas. We’ll show you how to design and cut out a basic pattern as well as how to transfer motifs onto fabric. You will learn a variety of stitches and explore how to create contemporary pieces by using metallic threads, frayed ribbons and even some bondina! All embroidery supplies are included as well as a booklet to take home full of ideas, tips and easy to follow instructions.


Wrap it Up!

This is an opportunity to learn and explore simple means and methods for printmaking which can be used for all your Christmas cards, wrapping paper and gift-tags. Get inspired to create your own individual & unique projects at home without special or expensive equipment.
The emphasis will be on using easy techniques like stenciling, lino-cuts and even potato printing! All levels of experience are welcome to attend this exciting workshop and we would recommend this course for people interested in fabric printing as it includes the same skills and techniques.. All printing supplies are included as well as a booklet to take home full of ideas, tips and easy to follow instructions.


May Your Bobbin Always Be Full!
Dates Saturday 7th November, 10am to 4 pm
Saturday 12th December, 10am to 4 pm

Learn how to use a sewing machine to create cushions, aprons, table linen and many more items for Christmas gifts or to decorate your home.
You’ll learn how to wind a bobbin, thread a machine, adjust the tension, sew straight seams and buttonhole stitch. The wonders of bondina and magic muslin will be revealed allowing you to create wonderfully unique items. We’ll give tips on choosing fabric, pinning, using tailors chalk and binding.We’ll also provide plenty of inspiration and ideas for those who need a gentle nudge to be more creative.Great for beginners or those who need to brush the dust off their sewing machines. All supplies are included as well as a booklet to take home full of ideas, tips and easy to follow instructions.
