Update on The Knitting and Stitching Show

We have already mentioned the Knitting and Stitching Show, but there are a few events we would like to highlight:

Swishing Salon
We invite you to bring along quality clothing to exchange with others, so you go home with a whole new wardrobe, and all we ask for is a small donation to charity! We want to encourage you to revamp your wardrobe, and rather than throwing away old clothes and spending money on new ones, we’ll have demonstrations throughout each day showing you how to customise and ‘upcycle’ and embellish your garments to give your wardrobe a new lease of life. So bring your clean, good quality unwanted clothes between 10am and 12pm and return from 1.30pm for the Swishing exchange!

Take part in the Innocent Big Knit Project
Take part in the Innocent Big Knit Project and help them reach their target of 80,000 little hats for their smoothie bottles to raise money for Age Action Ireland!

Irish Guilds and Associations
Upstairs on the balcony, there is a collection of stands from a variety of Textile Guilds and Associations, including Feltmakers Ireland, Irish Patchwork Society, Braid Society, Lace Guild, Irish Guild of Weavers, Spinners & Dyers, Embroiderer’s Guild, and Cork Textile Network. Each of the groups will be holding demonstrations, and are available for a chat! Well worth a trip upstairs, a break from the shopping..

Also upstairs is ‘Tread Softly’ an exhibition sponsored by The Crafts Council of Ireland showing work from CCoI registered craftspeople. They will be presenting awards on Thursday 28 October at 12:30pm.

The Knitting and Stitching Show at the RDS Dublin takes place from 28th – 31st October 2010.
