Knitting World Record has been broken!!

Congratulations to michellemadethis and to the Roscommon Lamb Festival for setting the new World Record for the largest group of people knitting simultaneously!!

The previous record was held by 937 knitters in Portland USA, but the title now belongs to Roscommon with an amazing 1,147.

I got to the festival on Sunday....and my 9yr old son was hoping to be part of this world record, having learned to knit at school last year. But we arrived a day too late! Well done anyway to those involved. It was a nice festival to visit, we enjoyed a family day out.

As sad as I may feel about losing the record only 2 years after we set it at the Sock Summit 2009 in POrtland, Oregon, I am so pleased that it was done. As one of the Sock SUmmit folks said (Tina Newton) "A knittlerly applause" for all those involved. So well done, knitting friends from Portland, Oregon, USA
