Open Studio, Kilkenny

ARTS OFFICE LAUNCHES OPEN STUDIO

Official launch Wednesday 14th March at 5pm

Kilkenny Arts Office, 76 John St, Kilkenny

‘Open Studio’ is the culmination of our current artists in residence programme. Deirdre Gallagher (Limerick), Caroline Schofield (Kilkenny), Vicky Cody (Kilkenny) and Maeve Coulter (Kilkenny) have been sharing studio space here at no. 76 John Street since October 2011.

Over the weeks all four artists have been developing work essentially in printmaking, drawing and textiles. The aim and focus of this Arts Office Residency programme is to enable artists to research and develop their practice, but also to give insights to the public into how and why artists create their work, to build relationships and further promote the Arts. They provide an awareness and further appreciation of the Arts, cultivate and develop new audiences. Up until last Autumn I have always focussed on full time solo artists residencies and overall this inaugural shared residency programme has been hugely successful. The Open Studio event will give the public and visitors at large the opportunity to experience the progress and processes of the artists over their time here

Open Studio, at no. 76 John Street is open to the public on Monday 12th March and continues until Thursday 22nd March 2012.

Opening hours 9.30am – 1pm and 2pm – 5pm weekdays.
Official launch Wednesday 14th March at 5pm
