World Wide Knit in Public Day 2010, Ireland

 

This year World Wide Knit in Public Day can be anytime between June 12th and June 20th 2010

Better living through stitching together. 

WWKIP is the largest annual knitter run event in the world. This year it takes place over the course of 8 days. It's about showing the general public that knitting can be a community activity in a very distinct way. More info on the history of WWKIP Day on their website

It is very easy to set one up, just decide on a venue, and alternative plan in case it rains, and then simply list it on the WWKIP website, here. They have all the promotional material you need already organised. You can download press kits, posters, flyer's, etc - here

SLIGO

Annie’s Crafts will be hosting a World Wide Knit In Public day get-to-gether in Ballymote, Co. Sligo, Ireland

Date: Saturday June 12, 2010
Time: starting at 11am
Location: outside Annie’s Crafts shop on Emmett Street in the centre of the village.

We will be outside under a marquee but in the event of rain will have it in the shop. Bring yarn, needles/hooks, any knitting/crochet/embroidery etc. project you’re working on. Everyone is welcome - just drop by or stay a while!

Meeting at the bandstand on the south side of Stephens Green for fun, knitting & chat! It might be useful to bring a portable chair or blanket, as well as an umbrella just in case! Backup plan is to meet in This Is Knit, Powerscourt Shopping Centre

How to get there: We will host the WWKIP day outside the shop weather permitting or inside the shop if the rain sets in. Bring your yarn and needles and maybe an umbrella. If it rains outside don't worry we have plenty of space inside. Lets hope for sunshine though!              

CORK

We will be knitting in the park, down by the roses, from 10am – 4pm, and later if people want to stick around. Please come along stay as long or as short as you want bring friends, family, children and pets, we will down by the roses.
