The Cottonwood Tree, Co. Kildare

For the last 5 years, Rose Doherty has had a stand at the RDS Christmas Craft Fair where she sold her range of handbags, and adult and children’s aprons. But like many other crafters, she found it hard to source fabric and trimmings in Ireland. So, she has now opened her own shop called The Cottonwood Tree, in Kilcullen, Co. Kildare.

She sells quilting fabric from Moda, Clothworks, Amy Butler, and the very popular Tilda by Tone Finnanger. To help make beautiful accessories toys and soft furnishings, she also stocks the Tilda range of craft books, and accessories. The store also stocks Debbie Bliss yarn and pattern books, King Cole wool and single patterns, buttons and ribbons, and more. To help children discover a new craft, she supplys crafting kits, along with children’s knitting needles and wool.

The Cottonwood Tree also has a craft room, where a variety of workshops and classes are held.
“So far we have knitting, crochet, quilting and felt making. There is a class on almost every Saturday, but the shop has also become a place to chat and show beautiful creations, many a discussion has lasted over many cups of coffee. I am always amazed at what fellow crafters are working on.”

The Cottonwood Tree is on Main Street Kilcullen Co. Kildare, Exit 1 on the M9.
