KNIT HAPPENS!

Photo

'Knit Happens' is the 'Knit a Stocking' campaign for the East Cork Rapid Response Team.
Get involved - knit a mini stocking!

Knit, a local yarn shop based in Midleton, Co. Cork have worked with a number of charities over the past few years. This time round, along with 3 other Cork businesses, they are running a campaign to raise valuable funds for the East Cork Rapid Response.

These miniature stockings are easy and quick to knit, don’t use a lot of yarn (approx.11 metres) and most importantly are a cute little knitted or crocheted item perfect for hanging on your Christmas tree (shh, let’s pretend I didn’t just say Christmas!).

The East Cork Rapid Response team support the Ambulance Service, Fire and Rescue Service, the
Coast Guard and RNLI delivering pre-hospital emergency medical care to the victims of sudden illness such as heart attacks. They also provide immediate medical care to victims of trauma such as those arising from road traffic incidents, industrial and farming accidents. Since January 2013, East Cork Rapid Response has been involved in over 200 emergencies in the East Cork area. These have included: 80 trauma case and 121
medical cases including 21 cardiac arrests. The service is now responding to almost two calls every three days. The cost of providing this valuable service is EUR3,000 each month. We hope our “Knit Happens” campaign will go some way to raising money to fund this service. If you would like to find out more about East Cork Rapid Response and the work they do visit their Facebook Page at www.facebook.com/eastcork.rapidresponse.7
