Browsing through the UN International Year of Natural Fibres website, I came this group We Felt United, "A not for profit group of felt artists with a vast ranging network reaching feltmakers across the planet through diverse associations, groups and guilds".
We Felt United started on Pat Spark’s Feltmakers List FAQ. If you have not come across this List before and you are into Felting, I seriously advise you to make a cup of tea, and grab a few biscuits beforehand. You'll need them, this list is impressive!
To help celebrate International Year of Natural Fibres, We Felt United, are organising the first International Day of Felt on 3rd October, 2009.
Felters around the world are encouraged to join together displaying Felt by exhibiting it outside their homes and studio's. If you are part of a group or community, why not start a project. If you have never felted before, try it out. We Felt United will also host an online exhibition of felt from across the world, and artists are invited to submit photographs of your work.
The theme for this year will be a slice of the colour wheel, yellow through red.
For more info on International Day of Felt, or on We Felt United, check out their website, www.feltunited.com
We have started a thread on The Woolly Way Forum, if anyone wants to organise or attend an event.
